A day at Ven is like
a visit to paradise

(translate by google translate)

Yes, that’s how wonderful the little island in the middle of the Öresund Strait between Sweden and Denmark is. Ven is located in the middle of the strait between two countries, off the northwest coast of Skåne between Helsingborg and Landskrona. The island is only 4.5 km long, and walking or cycling around Ven feels like being in a paradise of its own. Small winding roads, hills, sheep, green meadows, blooming fields, steep cliffs, the roaring sea crashing against the rocks—Ven is fantastic in so many ways! The magnificent wheat fields adorned with blooming poppies, beautiful yellow rapeseed fields, the hilly landscape, and the ever-present sea create a palpable sense of tranquility on the island. Once you fall in love with Ven, you can never break free.

As mentioned, Ven is a fairly small island, 4.5 km long and 2.6 km wide. The Backafallen cliffs rise from the sea and are the highest point on the island, reaching 45 meters above sea level. Ven has the shape of a sloping plateau and is still emerging from the sea. For many years, Ven belonged to Denmark, and King Frederick II gave the island to the scientist Tycho Brahe, who built the Uraniborg castle and the underground observatory Stjerneborg. Tycho Brahe’s presence is reflected in various attractions on the island.

There is plenty to do on Ven, and the island offers something for everyone. In Bäckviken, you can enjoy ice cream and a glass of wine. If you want to see more of the island, you can rent a bicycle uphill and visit attractions such as the Tycho Brahe Museum, the Spirit of Hven whisky distillery, the remains of Uraniborg and Stjerneborg, the new church, and the old church located at the top of the steep hill leading to Kyrkbacken. In Kyrkbacken, you can have a delicious meal or sunbathe and swim on the long sandy beach. If you prefer to play golf, there is a beautiful 9-hole course on the island.
